Ways to Help

Volunteer

Have you ever heard the saying “a volunteer is worth twenty paid men.”? It’s an old proverb dating all the way back to the 18th century. Even back then volunteers were an important part of society. Nothing has changed in the 21st century, and the Ronald McDonald House needs your help. There are many different ways you can make a difference. Whether you are volunteering your time or donating directly to the House, we are very grateful for your contributions. If you are interested in one or more of these wonderful opportunities please contact Kelly Caldwell, Marketing/Volunteer Coordinator, at (501) 374-1956. It’s the volunteers that really help make this a home away from home. Become a Ronald McDonald House volunteer, and get involved with one or many of the rewarding opportunities we have to offer.

SPECIAL EVENTS VOLUNTEERS

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas holds several special events throughout the year. From golf tournaments, to galas, to our Christmas Open House, special volunteers are needed to work behind the scenes making everything run smoothly. These events raise the bulk of our annual operating budget and our special event volunteers are essential to their success.

FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAMS

Relaxing is the name of the game and we need help to create adult stress relieving programs for our parents. Can you teach yoga? Maybe you love to cut hair or you can give manicures and pedicures. Do you like arts and crafts or even playing cards? If so, share your abilities with our families. After a long and stressful day at the hospital, stress relieving activities are the perfect solution to help unwind and prepare for the next day. Whether you can give hand massages to our parents or teach a family educational seminar, any activity for our families will help relieve some of the stress they endure on a daily basis.

RMH SUPPER CLUB

Calling all chefs. Get your favorite recipes together and join the RMH Supper Club. Cook a meal for our families and help them take a load off after a long day of doctor’s appointments. Nothing is better after a long day than coming back to a home cooked meal and not having to worry about where dinner is coming from every night. Use our kitchens and fill the House with the wonderful smells of home cooked food or bring your meal already prepared. Come by yourself or get your family, friends, church, or civic group involved.

COLLECT POP TABS

It only takes a few seconds to pull the tab off aluminum cans and soup cans. Collect the tabs and recycle for the Ronald McDonald House. You can drop your tabs off at the House and we will recycle them for you, or take them to your local recycling company and have them send us the check. The money we make from the pop tabs helps to ensure that our doors will stay open for families in need.

MAKE A TAX-DEDUCTIBLE CONTRIBUTION

Are you tired of trying to figure out what to get people for birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and other special occasions? Make a tax deductible donation in their name. Donations “in honor of” or “in memory of” are the perfect way to show someone you care. We will send a recognition card to that special person and your money will go directly into our house operations account to keep the House open for future families.

DONATE SUPPLIES

Can you imagine the amount of detergent a house of 25 rooms can go through in one month? How about the amount of paper towels a house this big will go through in one week. Any household supplies you use at your house we also need at our House. Check out our Wish List in the newsletter or online to see the current needs for our house.
